PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER GOSSIPS 24/01/2014

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s worth to the North London club is immeasurable feels Olivier Giroud, who professed his admiration for his manager, stating that Arsenal can turn the tide next season and challenge for the Premier League title, if
and only if, Wenger signs a new deal with the club, reports the Independent. On being questioned about Wenger’s future at the club, and how it might affect Arsenal’s future, Giroud responded, “Of course we all want him [Wenger] to continue the adventure. I’m sure that next season we can challenge for the title - I hope, right until the end [of the season] – and we need the coach. We need his experience. He must stay.”
On the back of Giroud’s statement, speculation has emerged from the camp of the North London club, that Wenger might sign an extended contract with the club in the upcoming days, and is looking to follow up the new deal with a host of expensive signings, reveals the Daily Mirror. It is further reported that the Arsenal hierarchy have decided to lay open their coffers, and present Wenger with a transfer kitty expected to be at least 70 million pounds.
Moses’ mission
Former Crystal Palace youngster, Victor Moses, might have a fairy tale ending with Liverpool, as the Reds are marching towards the Premier League title with aplomb, however, for Moses helping the Merseyside club to the trophy is just another professional job, and though he is happy for his loanee club, the 23 year old’s primary task is to fight for a place at his parent club, Chelsea, reports Sky Sports. Brendan Rodgers was always unlikely to make Moses’ deal permanent, and that thought only got more realistic after Moses stated, “ I'm a Chelsea player. I came to Liverpool to do a professional job for them but I'm going back to Chelsea at the end of the season to try and fight for my spot.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue their youth revolution
Brendan Rodgers is not showing any signs of slowing down in his quest of assembling a team for the future, after Liverpool became the front-runners to secure the signings of the British teenagers, Tyler Roberts (15) and Jack Batten (18), from West Brom Albion and Bristol City, respectively, reports the Daily Mirror. The duo are expected to cost just over a quarter of a million pounds!
Moyes’ parting gift?
The much-coveted British teenager, Luke Shaw, might become one of Manchester United’s first summer arrivals after it was revealed that David Moyes, before being shown the door, has managed to convince the 18 year old to opt for the Manchester club, instead of Chelsea, reports theGuardian. The transfer fee of around 30 million pounds, and a weekly wage of 100,000 pounds have turned out as the key aspects of the deal, if reports are to believed.
Blanc stands firm over PSG starlet
Paris St. Germain boss, Laurent Blanc, is not willing to lay down his claim regarding the availability of teenage prospect Adrien Rabiot, and has warned any potential suitors to lay off the 19 year old midfielder, reports Sky Sports. It is reported that Premier League sides, Arsenal, West Brom and Chelsea, are becoming keen admirers of the Frenchman, with the Blues aiming to go a step forward by preparing a formal offer for the France U21 international. Blanc responded to the speculation by stating, “I have a lot of esteem for that boy who has a big potential...I can understand he is impatient. But he must not forget he belongs to a very big club and you have to be patient in life. I hope he will stay at the club.”
Red Devils eyes Cavani and Fabregas
Notwithstanding the negative effect of David Moyes’ departure, the Manchester United hierarchy are wholeheartedly pursuing their primary transfer targets, Edinson Cavani and Cesc Fabregas, and are making all the right noises by opting to make preliminary contact with the players’ representatives and their parent clubs, reveals the Guardian.
But Russian mogul aims to make Cavani his own
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s vision might hurt Manchester United’s dreams, after it was revealed that the Russian is giving a higher priority to bring Edinson Cavani to Stamford Bridge, as opposed to Diego Costa, who is believed to be the primary target for Jose Mourinho in the upcoming transfer window, reports the Daily Express. And it seems that there is a certain level of truth to the above mentioned rumour, after an unnamed source who is close to Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes, stated, “Last news from Mendes's camp is that Abramovich said he wouldn't sign Costa. The russian wants Cavani.”
Martinez aiming for Manchester United duo
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has lined up Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley, as potential back-ups for Romelu Lukaku and Leon Osman, respectively, and might try to prise them away from Old Trafford with the promise of regular starting berths, reports the Daily Mail. Lukaku, who has been a revelation so far this season, is believed to be the primary target of Martinez, and the Spaniard is hoping to make a deal with Chelsea for the Belgian international, for a fee of around 20 million pounds, with Tottenham Hotspur also believed to be waiting in the wings. As for the ever-green Osman, who has reached that stage of his career, where his manager might start looking for replacements, a player of Cleverley’s calibre and poise is deemed ideal by Martinez. It is believed that a fee of around 8 million pounds might test United’s resolve for the 24 year midfielder.
A Saint for a Frenchman?
Arsene Wenger has identified 19 year old Calum Chambers as the long term successor of Bacary Sagna, and might be aiming to make a move for the Southampton youngster in the upcoming transfer window, reports the Daily Mail. With the contract situation of Sagna yet to be resolved, Wenger has reportedly decided to act in a more futuristic approach by opting to sign a player who could don the Gunners’ jersey for the years to come. Wenger has a lot of young players on his watchlist including Ivory Coast man Serge Aurier, German lad Sebastian Jung and Burnley star Kieran Trippier.
