MADRID LEADING RACE TO SIGN KROOS

SOCCERSNIPERS  reports that Real Madrid have beaten Manchester United andChelsea to the signature of Toni Kroos.

The Bayern Munich midfielder had been constantly linked with a move out of the Bavarian club throughout the last season, due to rumoured disputes over wages.
Kroos is a very talented central midfielder, and has the potential to be one of the best in his position in the future. But, not being a regular starter at club level can prove detrimental to any player’s hopes of making it big. Players need to play regularly to satisfy their hunger for the game, more so if they’re as talented as the German.
Potential
Moreover, he’s a young player and needs game-time to fulfill his potential. But getting it is not easy in a team with Schweinsteiger’s, Martinez’s and Gotze’s. So, it seems fitting that he wants to move on.
Now, he’s a attack-minded player and will obviously prefer playing in teams that have an attacking style of play. So, teams like Chelsea that have built a reputation for the so-called boring and anti-football ‘parking the bus’ tactic weren’t ever going to be his first choice destination.
Not only that, Chelsea are already overloaded in central midfield with a great defensive player in Nemanja Matic, one of the most creative central midfielders in world football in Cesc Fabregas, a hard-working and highly-skilled no.10 in Oscar and others like John Obi Mikel, Ramires etc. So, getting game-time wasn’t easy even over here.
Decline
United have suffered an unimaginable decline in the last season, and it will take multiple seasons for them to rebuild and compete for the title, even with a decorated manager like Louis van Gaal.
Real Madrid are currently at the pinnacle of European football having won a cup double last season, including the much awaited ‘La Decima’. The club are one of the best in the world at the moment, and showed their superiority over Bayern Munich in the semi-final thrashing in UEFA Champions League.
The club may seem to have many options in central midfield on paper. But in truth, it’s not so. Sami Khedira has had a injury-ridden season and hasn’t been up to the mark since his return. In a bid to raise funds to sign Falcao, Angel Di Maria seems to be on his way out as he is being continually linked with a move.
In spite of a great start to the season, Isco hasn’t featured much lately as he doesn’t seem to fit in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. The stage is set for Kroos to join the European Champions and make an impact because of expected issues in their midfield.
