MADRID EXTEND WINING STREAK

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates after hitting the target again for Real Madrid

A review of the weekend's action so far in Spain's La Liga, including victories for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid extended their winning run to 13 games in all competitions with a comfortable 5-1 derby victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu.
Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos had Real 2-0 up but an error from James Rodriguez allowed Alberto Bueno to score and give the visitors some hope at the break.
That would not last long, though, as second-half goals from Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo saw Carlo Ancelotti's men move to within two victories of equalling the club record of 15 consecutive wins, set in 1960/61 and then matched in 2011/12.
The win also saw Madrid regain their two-point lead over Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division.
Barca also picked up a victory on Saturday, but in contrasting circumstances as they survived a scare to ease past Almeria 2-1.
Lowly Almeria, without a win since September, were on course for a major upset after taking a 37th-minute lead through Thievy Bifouma.
However, the second-half introductions of big-name trio Luis Suarez, Neymar and Xavi turned things in Barca's favour as Luis Enrique's men avoided a third successive league defeat.
Brazil forward Neymar grabbed a 73rd-minute equaliser thanks to a pass from Suarez and then the Uruguayan also played in Jordi Alba for the winning goal in the 82nd minute.
Red-hot Malaga are up to sixth after fighting back from a goal down to beatEibar 2-1, Nordin Amrabat netting the winner with a 90th-minute penalty.
Mikel Arruabarrena's 42nd-minute strike following a defensive mistake put visiting Eibar ahead but Malaga levelled at the start of the second half through Juanmi.
The home side then sealed a fifth successive win when Amrabat netted his last-gasp spot-kick after Raul Navas had handled in the box - with the centre-back being shown a second yellow card in the process.
Saturday's other two Primera Division games finished goalless, with Granadaholding high-flying Celta Vigo away from home and Getafe and Elche sharing the spoils at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
