OKOCHA : EAGLES NEED A PLAYMAKER

Former Nigeria skipper Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha has observed that Super Eagles lack a playmaker and will need one to do well at Brazil 2014.

The former Bolton Wanderers playmaker made this assertion after watching the Eagles draw 0-0 with Greece in a World Cup warm-up.

"Having critically watched our match last night (early Wednesday), we need a bit of depth in our midfield. Playmaker is inevitable, for possession/killer passes," Okocha tweeted.

Another ex-Super Eagles star, Jonathan Akpoborie, has urged the team to have more self-belief.

"The players need confidence now to do well in Brazil, they just have to believe in themselves and I hope they get some of it from the friendly games," Akpoborie toldAfricanFootball.com

He also said he would have wished Nosa Igiebor had made the trip to Brazil, but admitted the final squad was good overall.

"The coach has picked a good team for the World Cup and we all have to collectively support
the team as a nation,” he said.

"Personally, I think Nosa Igiebor should have been on the list because he keeps the ball very well. And his ball distribution is very good. He is a box-to-box player. That is over now anyway but all the Eagles need now is our support."
