ARSENAL HELD , REDS CRUSH HOTSPUR

A review of Sunday's action in the Barclays Premier League as Arsenal could only a manage a 1-1 draw against Leicester.

Arsenal were unable to get the better of newly-promoted Leicester on Sunday as their Barclays Premier League meeting at the King Power Stadium finished in a 1-1 draw.

The Gunners took the lead in the 20th minute when the ball came via Yaya Sanogo to Alexis Sanchez, who fired into the net to register his first English top-flight goal.

Two minutes later, Leonardo Ulloa nipped in ahead of Laurent Koscielny in the Arsenal box to head home Jeff Schlupp's cross.

Earlier, Mario Balotelli's Liverpool debut saw the Reds bounce back from their defeat at Manchester City by winning 3-0 against Tottenham, Brendan Rodgers' men once again enjoying themselves at White Hart Lane after triumphing 5-0 there last season.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the eighth minute, slotting in at the far post from Jordan Henderson's pass, and it was 2-0 in the 49th after Eric Dier's challenge on Joe Allen was enough to convince referee Phil Dowd to give a penalty, which Steven Gerrard dispatched past Hugo Lloris.

Alberto Moreno added a superb solo effort around 10 minutes later, dispossessing newly-introduced substitute Andros Townsend, galloping forward down the left flank and lashing the ball across Lloris, moments before Balotelli's first Liverpool appearance - in which he had shown decent workrate but poor finishing - came to an end with his substitution.

It made for a satisfying 100th competitive game in charge of the Merseyside club for Rodgers, while his opposite number Mauricio Pochettino's 100 per cent start to life as Spurs boss came to a jarring halt.

In the day's other encounter, Aston Villa made it seven points from their opening three fixtures of the new Premier League season as they saw off Hull2-1 at home.

Villa netted both their goals during a dominant first-half performance, Gabriel Agbonlahor converting neatly in the 14th minute and Andreas Weimann then doing likewise in the 36th.

Hull found a lifeline when Nikica Jelavic's header went in off Villa full-back Aly Cissokho with 18 minutes to go, but the visitors were ultimately unable to salvage anything from the match.
