Lazio star says he’s fully fit for AFCON qualifier
Lazio FC and Nigerian midfield ace, Ogenyi Onazi has expressed the readiness of the Super Eagles to stream roll their Congolese counterparts in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations clash in Calabar.
Onazi said the Super Eagles are in trim shape to beat the Congolese and boost the team’s confidence to face the South Africans in Cape Town on Wednesday adding that the plan is to pick as many wins as possible to ease their qualification.
“It is not as if we are going into the match with the notion that the Congolese will be no march for the Eagles but we are confident that they will fall on Saturday. We are ready and they cannot escape defeat.
“My injury has healed and I am 100 percent fit and if the coach gives me the chance to play on Saturday, Nigerians will see that I am back to my usual self and help the Eagles to beat the Congolese. I am fit and raring to go” he stated.
The diminutive central midfielder said the Eagles will fight to qualify for African Cup of Nations in Morocco and see if we can defend the cup successfully noting that with the unity in the current Eagles squad, it is do able.
Asked why he did not move to a bigger club during the transfer window, Onazi said that some offers came but they fell below his expectation adding that his agent is working hard to see if a better offer will come in January window.
