SAGNA CONTRACT TALKS FAILING

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted he’s failing to make any progress with defender Bacary Sagna over a new contract.
The long-serving right-back, 31, could leave the Gunners as his deal with Arsenal expires at the end of the season. Talks have been ongoing with the former Auxerre man to tie him down to extend his stay with the club for at least another season, but Sagna has yet to put pen to paper.
‘At the moment the talks are not progressing. We know what we want from him, he knows what is on the table and that’s where we are. The ball is not in our camp anymore, it is in his camp, and he needs to come back to us.’
Sagna has made 32 Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal. He’s made two assists and 115 crosses in the top division this campaign so far.
The French international has been a brilliant servant for the club, staying while many others left for bigger deals and the promise of trophies elsewhere.
Contract talks have stalled as Sagna is said to want a more lucrative deal for two more years. Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy are reportedly more favourable of a 12 month extension on the same money he’s been on.
