Arsenal. are all set to resign their former striker, Carlos Vela after the Gunners have reportedly activated his €4m buy-back clause, that was inserted in his contract with Real Sociedad.
The representative of Vela was in London few backs back, as reported by Basque newspaperVoz Populi, to hold talks with Arsenal, where the situation of his client was explained in details.
According to the contract, Sociedad could sell Vela and pay Arsenal a percentage of share, but since it didn’t happen, the Gunners can now execute the buy-back option. The newspaper now reports that Arsenal have chosen to active the buy-back option and when the summer window re-opens, the Mexican will wear the Gunners jersey again.
The Mexican joined Arsenal in 2005, but due to work permit restrictions, he could not start playing for the Gunners before 2008-09. After few loan moves here and there he was permanently sold to Sociedad where he dazzled for the basque side, forming a telepathic partnership with Antonine Griezmann.
Recently in an interview with Marca, he said he is happy in Sociedad but won’t rule out the possibility of re-joining Arsenal.
“One possibility is that of the €30 million transfer, but there are more options for me to see what to do. Arsenal can buy me back for €4m. Now I see things differently and will not close the door to Arsenal, or any England team. I think I’m ready to go to another country.”
Spanish media now asking the question why Sociedad didn’t negotiate a deal for Vela earlier, now that they have to sell him for just €4m? Anyway, Arsenal need a striker and would welcome the Mexican with so much joy.
