PODOLSKI INSISTS IN ARSENAL STAY

Lukas Podolski
Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has declared that he made the right choice when he signed for the Gunners two years ago and is happy to stay in north London
following the club’s FA Cup victory and while he also admitted  he would stay at Arsenal next season.
The 28-year-old, who was recently included in Germany’s World Cup squad, has been tipped to leave the Emirates this summer after failing to secure a regular starting berth for Arsene Wenger’s side.
However, Podolski has rebuffed claims that he could be set to depart and insisted that his decision to join Arsenal has been vindicated.
“As things stand today, I am an Arsenal player [and tomorrow] it won’t change.
“Going to London was the right step. I had the chance to go to a big club and to play in the strongest league in the world. I am happy in the city, in the league, in the club. Those two years have been outstanding for me,” he declared.
The forward also declared that he would have commanded a better goals return if it had not been for a hamstring injury that sidelined him for almost four months and 15 consecutive games in the opening half of the campaign.
“If my bad injury hadn’t stopped me for almost five months it would have been a better season again.
“Nevertheless I am satisfied. In the end, I was a regular starter, scored eight goals and had four assists in the league. It’s nothing to sneeze at,” Podolski admitted.
The German helped his side end their nine year trophy drought with victory over Hull City at Wembley and it is an achievement that the striker was undoubtedly proud to have been a part of.
“I am not someone that reduces himself only to the titles he won.
“Lukas Podolski doesn’t change just because he won a title but, of course, a title is something awesome – even more if it’s in a foreign country and in such an important competition.
“Especially from the aspect that Arsenal hadn’t won anything for nine years, this success was something special,” he insisted.
