Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria is a transfer target of host of European clubs but reportedly, coach Carlo Ancelotti is not willing to let him go.
Spanish sports daily Marca has claimed today that: “”Don’t go Ángel” is the general reaction within the Real Madrid dressing room. Not just from Ancelotti who has always backed his player to the hilt, but also from some of the heavyweights within the team including Cristiano Ronaldo, who in no way wants his preferred midfield partner to leave Los Blancos.”
Angel Di Maria had one of his best seasons in Real Madrid jersey this year and understandably, many other top clubs are ready to lure him away. The likes of PSG, Monaco, Arsenal, Man City, Manchester United and Juventus are vying for his services. Reportedly, Madrid have also received few offers for the player.
Di Maria is a key player for Argentina and expected to play a majore role for his side, along with Messi. He is expected to join the Argentia squad next week and wants to get his future resolved prior to that.
However, Di Maria is very happy with his current profile at Real Madrid. He said yesterday: “You work to keep growing and improving to be one of the best. There are lots of players who are doing a superb job, but I think I’ve had a great season – my best at Real Madrid, what with winning the Champions League and being the best player in the final. And I’ve had a good year with the national side as well. I hope everything goes well for me now.”
Coach Carlo Ancelotti had also claimed recently that the player is going nowhere and considering the financial might of Real Madrid, other clubs have almost no chances of signing him now. As a reward for his excellent performances last season, the club is reportedly considering a pay rise for him for the next season.
Another reason for Di Maria to stay at Real Madrid next season is his excellent relationship with Carlo Ancelotti and chance to win Ballon D’ore here. “Luckily at Real I had a coach who stood up for me when things were rough,” Di Maria said to Marca. “Sometimes it’s hard to understand not being nominated when you’ve had an excellent season and you’re playing at a big club… The big players here are the ones who have won it. I haven’t won it and I haven’t even been among the nominees for the best 10 or 50 players, but that’s the way it goes. You have to keep working at it.”
Now, considering the players’ growing stature at Santiago Bernabeu and his popularity with the coaching staff, it will be a big surprise if he signs for another club this season.
