Chelsea have made their first foray
into the transfer market ahead of the summer
window by signing 19-year-old Croatian star Mario Pasalic on a pre-contract.
The Mirror reports that he is to undergo a medical in May before signing a permanent
deal after Chelsea agreed a £1.6million deal with Croatian club Hajduk Split.
Pasalic is a talented midfielder who has been capped by his country at U21 level and has
netted an impressive 11 goals in 25 league appearances.
It has been his first year with the first team and his performances have attracted many
admires, including the scouts at Chelsea.
The youngster’s agent, Ivica Loncar, says he will join Chelsea before spending the

"Mario would like to stay at Hajduk as long as possible, but the contract is signed and
we must respect the desire of the club," he told Croatian newspaper 24sata.
"There is a chance [he will stay at Hajduk], but they are minimal. Mario will be in
London at the end of May for a medical examination and then will know more about his
future.
"[There are] several interested clubs from Italy, Germany and Spain, and it is possible
that the first two weeks of preparation activity will be with Chelsea. But the decision is
Jose Mourinho's."
Chelsea have a habit of snapping up the best youth players around Europe before
sending them out on back-to-back season-long loans, as they did with current Atletico
Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
