With Real Madrid keen to bring in Colombia World Cup star James Rodriguez, it looks like another of European football’s giants will profit from Angel Di Maria leaving the Bernabeu.
AS report on Monday morning that both Manchester United and PSG have offered 60 million euros to Real Madrid in order to sign Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine, who was terrific for Real Madrid last season, will likely become the most expensive player to leave La Liga.
New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has expressly asked for Di Maria and whether he arrives at Old Trafford or PSG, Di Maria will become one of the best paid players in world football.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Monaco are also tracking Di Maria, but AS believe that they are unwilling to pay more than 50 million euros.
AS add that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti does not want to lose Di Maria but with 60 million euros Los Blancos will have the majority of the money they need to buy James Rodriguez.
There is no suggestion in the AS article of which side, Manchester United or PSG, has the edge for Di Maria – perhaps Louis van Gaal’s brilliance at the World Cup could sway the Argentine?
